The GOP Clarion Call to racism blares in Florida! Woman at Santorum rally says President Obama "is an avowed Muslim, has no legal right to be in our government", crowd cheers her on! Santorum says, "YEAH, well, um, I'm trying to get him out"!

The GOP bigotry tour continues! Last week Newt Gingrich steam-rolled into South Carolina yapping about the "food stamps president" and introducing his JOBS plan for black America....putting black 3rd graders to work scrubbing toilets, even though many of their parents are out of work!

In Iowa, Santorum told the crowd, "I don't want to help black people by giving them somebody else's money".   Of course 84% of the welfare recipients in Iowa are white!  Santorum later claimed he didn't say black - he says he said, "BLAH"!

Now they've moved the race circus on to Florida and suddenly the Muslim card is played - again!  I don't think any of us is surprised that this happened but we should be angered to see a would-be president completely ignore such blatant bigotry, racism and ignorance just so he can get votes  - and then still call himself a leader and a Christian.

Rick Santorum isn't going anywhere but home, and not soon enough - but he should've had the courage to stand up to that woman and tell the truth.  I have a new-found respect for Senator John McCain, who to my knowledge is the only GOP candidate to openly challenge the birthers at a political rally.  Of course, McCain didn't get elected either, even though his VP choice, what's her name, ran around the country screaming, "domestic terrorist", "un-American", and appealing to people in places "that are real America"!

So there was Senator Santorum in "real America", which at this point we all clearly know is "white America" and Santorum melted into a jelly-spined coward before the lady bully and couldn't muster any of his so-called Christian faith and courage to stand up and do the right thing.  What would Jesus have done?

It wasn't as if this was screamed by some whacko nut-job in passing.  Santorum effectively gave her the floor.  He in fact commented on everything she said EXCEPT the "he's an avowed Muslim" part!   He even went on to say, "I agree with you" although he wasn't agreeing with the "avowed Muslim" bit - at least I hope he wasn't in some surreptitious around about way.

When reporters asked Santorum about it he claimed it was a "gotcha question"!   Where have we heard THAT before?

No it's not a "gotcha" question Senator Santorum, you're simply a spineless circus clown and are afraid to stand against the racists and bigots in your party.  Speaker Boehner did exactly the same thing on "Meet The Press" sometime ago when he was asked about this Muslim nonsense saying, "it's not my job to tell the American people what to think".

Funny, Santorum, Boehner and the rest of these clowns have NO problem telling us what to think about everything else!

It is becoming clearer and clearer that for all the denials,  the Tea Party and the GOP is openly selling racism - out of pure desperation!   We've seen it time and time again.  It  simply can't be denied anymore.

This is truly disgusting and repulsive and the GOP and its so-called leaders are showing America just what they are made of...not much!

I wonder what they're all going to say or do the day after the election and Barack Hussein Obama II is the 45th President of the United States of America?

I just wonder...

Of course Santorum should have admonished that woman. But of course he " agreed " with her. I wonder if she was a shill. Keep the myth alive.

At least McCain corrected a woman who called Obama an "Arab" during the 2008 campaign.

Santorum, Romney, Gingrich have no honor or shame. Why would we want someone with out character to be POTUS.?????

It is sad that would-be presidents have no spine or courage in the face of outright lies and bigotry. Santorum maintains he "wasn't going to attack an old woman". Well OK...but you addressed her entire "question", in fact gave her the floor.

I know why Santorum didn't challenge it...the crowd cheered when she said "he'a an avowed Muslim". Santorum was afraid he'd be booed out of the room!

Watching Sons of Anarchy a few weeks back. They had a whole season where the neo-nazis were trying to move into Charming. Of course, the Neo-Nazis had this whole B.S. line about just wanting to live "separately."

It seems reasonable until you realize that they'd like to "separate" everyone else to an underground location.

"It's not my responsibility as a candidate to correct everybody who makes a statement that I disagree with," Santorum said. "There are lots of people who get up and say stuff in a town hall meeting and say things that I don't agree with, but I don't think it's my obligation, nor should it be your feeling that it's my obligation to correct somebody who says something that I don't agree with."

But, but, but, you gave her the floor and addressed every part of her comment accept the part about the president being "an avowed Muslim"!

Exactly! The utter hypocrisy is nauseating! If this had been screamed by some clown in the crowd...no big deal.

But Santorum actually turned the conversation over to this woman and he clearly addressed everything she talked about EXCEPT "an avowed Muslim". He even at one point said, "I agree with you", in reference to President Obama ignoring the constituion!

So he in fact gave her credibility even AFTER the audience cheered on her ignorance!

That should be unacceptable behaviour for ANY person running for high office.

I think it's pretty clear that ceratin Republican leaders have decided to use this "Muslim" nonsense as a recruiting tool.

Here's Speaker Boehner last year on the topic:
Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner appeared on Meet the Press with David Gregory and dismissed the idea that it was somehow his responsibility to stand up to the "ignorance" of some Americans still believing President Obama is a Muslim. Gregory questioned why as Speaker he doesn't attempt to eliminate such misinformation, yet Boehner did not see that as his role.

Boehner argued "It's not my job to tell the American people what to think. Our job in Washington is to listen to the American people."

I am worried about your response and surprise. You've been in the middle of all this political chaos for so long, maybe you need just a little quiet time? If nothing else, close your eyes, picture circles within circles within circles and take a deep breath.

    Nobody is surprised anymore!
It's been around in part because Republican leaders like Boehner and Santorum WANT it to be around and they're cowards unwilling to stand against the bigotry within the GOP.

Donald Trump based his candidacy soley on birtherism....and he was the front runner of the GOP BECAUSE he was a birther! Until that fatefull day when the president released the birth certificate!

There's a long way to go and lots can and will happen between now and November! But one thing is undeniable for many onlookers...the GOP is clearly on racial politics overdrive and doesn't appear to be slowing down one bit! We're just on the 3rd GOP primary/caucus and we've had nothing but racial sillyness from the GOP!

May be, captace, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings! This is what they said about Obama...no way a black man could win the presidency. Even Pres. Clinton brought up his race when Hillary was in it.

IMO, TheyreAllCrooks, there are been too many racial implications including when Mr. Cain was in the circus. I found it interesting that some used race against him. I think it's gonna calm down....sure hope so. Yes, it was all over the news, but I suppose my point was.....a lot of people take it with a grain of salt...politics, as usual.

Except on NV, I don't give out my opinions much on politics, but listen to others. And, people have a lot to say. It's all about the economy! The job market is not going up, but the prices on everything else are. Part time jobs are plentiful at minimum wage with no health insurance. And, what I find interesting is these employers take issue with a person working two part time jobs because this person will not be available to work part time any hours they should call.

Well I have to completely disagree there. I work in HR Consulting for IT and there are far more jobs available than there are qualified candidates and that is an absolute fact - I have clients begging us to find them people! The same is true in many other fields such as bioscience, nursing, etc...but of course if we're not willing to invest in education...those jobs are NEVER going to be filled!

Also fewer new applicants for unemployment in November...the fewest new applicanst since early 2008...that is hugely significant! The job market is clearly getting better...the Muslim president isn't nearly as dangerous as Santorum or that old woman and her fans thinks! /s

Well, I have a son who has two degrees and all financial aid is repaid. He works two part time jobs. For years, he had a full time job, but the company went under. Also, I have two nephews and two young friends who are working part time jobs. Perhaps, it is the area in which one lives.

The proof is in the pudding! Statistics are only that! The real picture of our economic situation is on the streets. A grocery store here was taken over by a new owner. People waiting in line to fill out applications was three blocks long and it went on for two days. Every available job was part time. There were young, old and handicapped!

I am glad that your area is doing well.

I live in Chicago. They opened a Walmart downtown recently and there were hundreds of people applying. So the part time job issue is everywhere. However....

When I graduated in 1982 I deceided to go into technology (my degree is in Business)...that was the best career decision I have ever made...I've never been out of work and the pay is great! I even started my own consulting firm!

The biggest problem with the American workforce is there are way too many people who are simply NOT qualified for the jobs that are available. This has been a growing problem for several years (aouple of decades at least) and the recent crash of 2008 just highlights it.

Unemployment for instance for computer programmers is 3% nationwide and there are 10's of thousands of CP jobs open -there aren't enough bodies to fill the seats! The same for people in the medical field, science too...there are plenty of jobs everywhere.
Just sayin...we need to re-educate and re-train the workforce...but that is something the GOP doesn't seem to believe in either!

I have a niece who starts college in the fall...when she decided to go into medicine I leaped for joy!

TheyreAllCrooks....believe me, I am not trying to go one on one with you about any of these issues. I can speak for myself and what I see.

My friend's son and wife moved from Chicago to my neck of the woods. He had a great job as a computer graphic designer. Lost his job. Their condo is still up for sale after three years. Who do you think is helping them out? Parents, of course.

My nephew got certified as a welder. Terrific....skilled labor. Cannot find a job, so, he is working at Wal Mart part time.

My best friend's daughter had a great job with a bank as a mortgage adviser. Degreed and the whole ball of wax. Beautiful young lady, but the bank was downsized and you know the rest of the story.

I am a victim of the 2008 crash. And, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who were responsible for that.

We all have our own stories. If you are doing great....fantastic! But, my point is, we are not all doing great.

There certainly appears to be some truth to that.

Over the first 3 GOP contests they sure have dished out an incredible amount of ignorance!

Santorum went racially stupid in Iowa!

Where was she during the controversy with Obama's pastor? It seems the Republican party is full of ignorant people.

I agree - I'm not McCain's biggest fan, especially after he unleashed Palin on us, but at least he had integrity. These people are public servants. They have a duty to inform the public and respect the government they work for which includes the office of the President.

You get no argument from me on that. They're dirty rats is what they are ...dirty rats!

McCain has some decency and sense of honor do you really expect Santorum to do the same?

It is early in the champiain season and race card has already been played over and over in the GOP.

don't like don't read, it is my vernacular, i love swearing and cussing

sometimes they are the only words that fit the situation

i often wonder how people get through life being such idiots, or conservative, or ignorant of history, facts

i wonder how christians can possibly say they believe in jesus

but, lol, you concern yourself with my language, which many times intentional to elicit a response i want

look at the utter hypocrisy of Newtie Pattewtie and how the evangelical morons in SC ate up his no-so righteous indignation and catapulted him ahead of Romney

oh, and by the way there is a filter for what you read or not

have you asked how the army got away with murdering Pat Tillman

have you asked how is it we still, still @!$%#ing subsidize oil companies

have you asked how is it that insurance companies get away with a ponzi scheme

have you ever asked with the reduction of physical injuries in auto accidents because of laws requiring seat belts, why your premium didn't go down

have you ever @!$%#ing asked how any one person could be worth 10 million dollars in compensation, let alone 50, 60 or 70 million

have you ever @!$%#ing asked how a family affords to go to a sporting event where the players make millions

have you ever asked how Romney can possibly lie, continuously about the things we have tapes of him saying

have you ever asked how the catholic church could possibly sanction pedophilia

Please don't use the phrases "circus clowns" or "clown show" any more. I am beginning to feel sorry for actual circus clowns. This is giving them a bad name. There is nothing funny about the totally unqualified, undignified, and deceitful Republican field of candidates. Circus clowns, on the other hand, are proud participants in an ancient tradition of the world of entertainment.

I am hoping that maybe, just maybe this fiasco that is the republican debates will put an end to the tea party and the fringe right. Maybe just maybe enough Americans will finely see Santorum, and people like him for the POS A-holes they are, and put an end to any influence they may have on society. I HAVE A DREAM!!!!
